A record-breaking Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef, completed her 100-hour cooking – marathon, breaking the previous record for the “longest cooking time” by an individual.

Recall On Monday morning, Hilda had broken and tied the record for the longest cooking time, previously held by Indian chef Lata Tandon.

The chef, who was born in Akwa, Ibom, will eventually achieve  her first 96-hour goal before continuing for an additional four hours and setting a new world record of 100 hours.

Since putting on her cooker at 16:00 GMT+1 on Thursday, Hilda Baci has used more than 100 different recipes.

She has been encouraged by politicians, celebrities, and the noisy audience that has gathered to see her prepare meals.

The previous benchmark was 87 hours and 45 minutes, which Indian chef Lata Tondon achieved in Rewa, central India, in 2019.

Before stating if she has broken the record, Guinness World Records says it is still examining the evidence.

Although there are no organization representatives present at the site in Lagos’ upscale Lekki neighborhood, CCTV cameras have been deployed to keep an eye on the event.

Baci has experience competing in hot kitchen events. She won the inaugural “Jollof Faceoff” in 2021 after defeating other competitors, including a Ghanaian foe in the championship round, to take home the prize for the greatest rendition of the hot and spicy rice dish popular in West Africa.

She claimed that her love of cooking was motivated by her mother’s culinary skills.
