Jhon Viafara, ex-football star jailed for cocaine Agency Report Former English Premier League football star, Jhon Viafara has been slapped with an 11-year prison sentence for smuggling cocaine into the USA. The former Southampton midfielder and ex-Colombia international was jailed Thursday in a federal court in Texas. The 42-year-old – who made 83 appearances for the Saints between 2006-08 – was extradited to the US in January 2020. In November, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import 5kg or more of cocaine into the country. He was accused of being the the kingpin in an operation that used speed boats and small planes to send the drug into America from Colombia via Mexico

According to a statement by the state police command through its Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, on the Twitter handle of the command @LagosPoliceng, the man has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department on the order of the Commissioner of Police.According to the statement: “The police operatives attached to Bariga Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Segun Ezekiel, aged 24, leader of Aiye cult group in Bariga area for firing and killing one Taye Gbalagbala, aged 30, the leader of the Eye cult group in Bariga.

“The man has been alleged to be a notorious cult leader and killer who has been terrorising the entire Bariga area of the state. He has confessed to the crime and that he carried out the murder of the deceased in company of three other members of Aiye cult groups. “The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for proper investigation and possible arrest of other fleeing culprits.”
